Does your computer show the headset as “Connected”?

This tells us where to start.

  • Yes, it shows “Connected”
  • No, or I do not know how to check

Open Settings › Bluetooth & devices. Your headset is listed there and shows “Connected”. Press the Windows key + I to open Settings. Open System Settings › Bluetooth. Your headset is listed there and shows “Connected”. Click the Apple menu in the top left, then System Settings.

Connect the headset

The computer must be connected to the headset first.

Windows

  1. Charge the headset and switch it on.
  2. New headset? Put it in pairing mode (see its manual).
  3. Open Settings › Bluetooth & devices and connect it.

Mac

  1. Charge the headset and switch it on.
  2. New headset? Put it in pairing mode (see its manual).
  3. Open System Settings › Bluetooth and connect it.

Press the Windows key + I to open Settings. Click the Apple menu in the top left, then System Settings.

Make it the default device

Your computer may still use the built-in speaker and microphone.

Windows

  1. Open Settings › System › Sound.
  2. Under “Output” and “Input” select your headset.

Mac

  1. Open System Settings › Sound.
  2. Under “Output” and “Input” select your headset.

Press the Windows key + I to open Settings. Click the Apple menu in the top left, then System Settings.

Choose the headset in Teams

Teams has its own device settings.

Windows

  1. In Teams open the three dots (…) › Settings › Devices.
  2. Select the headset for “Speaker” and “Microphone”.
  3. Use “Make a test call” to check.

Mac

  1. In Teams open the three dots (…) › Settings › Devices.
  2. Select the headset for “Speaker” and “Microphone”.
  3. Use “Make a test call” to check.

The three dots (…) are at the top right of Teams, next to your profile picture. The sound quality drops when a Bluetooth headset also uses its microphone. This is normal for many headsets.

Restart Teams with the headset connected

Teams often does not notice a headset connected after it started.

Windows

  1. Quit Teams: right-click its icon in the taskbar notification area › Quit.
  2. With the headset connected, start Teams again.

Mac

  1. Quit Teams: right-click its Dock icon › Quit.
  2. With the headset connected, start Teams again.

How do I fully restart Teams?
